after a long and continuous preparation work over the past three years, KRSO held the training course simultaneously in Sulaymaniyah and Duhok governorates in coordination with CSO. In Sulaymaniyah, the survey’s team from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah participated along with technical team consists of survey’s coordinator from Kurdistan region statistics office and central supervisors and in Duhok, the course was held for the survey’s team from this governorate. The course is planned to last for 20 days including Fridays.
The survey will be conducted jointly by KRSO and CSO with technical support from the World Bank. The first round of the survey (IHSES-I) was conducted in 2007 and the second round (IHSES-II) was conducted 2012. It is worth mentioning that this survey is considered as one of the most important statistical projects after the general population census which the field work will last for one year.
The purpose of this survey is to know households’ livelihood in general through a questionnaire consisting of 25 sections (household demographic characteristics, education, health, housing, body measuring, employment and unemployment, food security, agriculture, food ration, household and individual income and expenditure, loans, advances, justice…). In addition to this, the results of this survey will be a source for updating and knowing the poverty line and poverty rates, also it will be used to update the prices of food and non-food items in the consumer basket which is used in calculating the inflation and deflation rate. This stage of the survey was funded by the Ministry of Planning of Federal government -CSO after the previous agreement between the World Bank and the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to fund the survey didn’t go through.
