Under the supervision of the World Bank and in cooperation between the Central Statistics organization of Iraq and Kurdistan Region Statistics Office, a training workshop on the National Accounts System was held in Erbil between 17-21 September 2023. The workshop was conducted with presence of economic experts from the World Bank and participation of the Central Statistics Organization - Directorate of National Accounts and representatives from the Kurdistan Region Statistics Office.
The objective of the workshop was to train the staff on the mechanism of calculating National Accounting System indicators, as well as to improve the capacity of technical staff working in providing GDP indicators for all economic activities. The workshop also touched base on the availability of data sources regarding economic sectors (oil, agriculture, manufacturing, minerals, trade, services, etc.).
It is worth mentioning that before this workshop, an online meeting was held in April to familiarize the participants with the national accounting system.
