The meeting was dedicated to approving the recommendations and proposals submitted in the last meeting of the census high committee. that was held on 6/6/2022 with our participation to decide on the census time to be implemented tentatively in the last quarter of 2023 as well as deciding on the recommendations concerning to this issue. Related to this, the president of KRSO pointed out that the ministry of planning in Kurdistan region and Iraq need to coordinate and cooperate in conducting the census throughout Iraq without distinction so that the CSO and the KRSO can do the process in the best way. It was also explained to the participants that on 25/5/2022 president of KRSO visited the minister of planning of Iraq to closely discuss the details of the joint work between CSO and KRSO in the field of organizing the preparation for the census. Then, the general directorate of the human development in the ministry of planning of Iraq read a report on the steps taken on preparation of the new draft for the population policy that included the recommendations of the last meeting of the Arab council for population and development in the 13th meeting held in Cairo. In this regard, president of KRSO mentioned that the ministry of planning and KRSO have a program to prepare the population policy for Kurdistan region to be complementary of the Iraq policy and implementing the census will be important in preparing this policy. Also, general directorate of human development delivered a brief talk about the steps taken by Iraqi ministries to implement the decisions of the Nairobi conference on population and development. At the end of the meeting, the Iraqi Prime Minister asserted that the ministries of planning in Baghdad and Erbil should work together to do the census process and remove all obstacles before conducting this important process.
